Opioid Crisis and Communities of Color
As COVID-19 deaths decline, overdose deaths continue to rise, with death rates spiking in communities of color (AMA, 2023), where fentanyl has entered the drug supply of stimulants as well as heroin.
Exciting news!
We were recently awarded $3.7 million from the Health Resources and Services Administration! This funding will allow us to continue our public health workforce development initiatives from September 30, 2026 to September 29, 2030.
With the new funding cycle, we’re rebranding! Our new name is the Great Lakes Public Health Training Center. We’ll continue serving Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin to increase the supply of a high-quality public health workforce, especially for rural and medically vulnerable communities.
